The SMYLE FreeForm Technology – a joint development from Optiswiss and IOT, is based on the technical specifications from the Brien Holden Vision Institute (BHVI).

SMYLE lenses offer the best vision at all distances thanks to the fully correcting central area. Surrounding this area, there are the technology areas, whose special feature lies in the fact that their arrangement is calibrated to the natural asymmetry of the retina. Peripheral defocus can demonstrably slow down ocular elongation and at the same time the integrated addition provides accommodative support.

While the studies to date on the effectiveness of various treatment options for myopia progression in  children relate primarily to the Asian region, extensive results are available from Europe for SMYLE lenses.

SMYLE Lenses reduce the progression of myopia by 39% after 12 months compared to single-vision lenses. All children who took part in the study described their visual acuity as perfect to good, with high visual comfort at all distances.
